Resident DJS East & Young has just released their new EP called “Coda” on the massive Calvin Harris‘ Fly Eye label !
“ We’ve been working on this EP for several months before it was finished. Especially the track ‘Coda’ was a long creative process, but we finally managed to finish it exactly as we wanted it to sound, with a lot of energy in it. With ‘Dice’ we wanted to show the audience our harder side, of course combined with the spherical east & young elements.” quoting them, so don’t wait : Go & Buy it now on Beatport !
The Dutch world takeover continues with a massive new EP on Calvin Harris’s Fly Eye label, check out this interview for DMC World Magazine they made recently :
You have said in the past that you have seen Calvin as a form of role model for you – what are his big qualities?
“Don’t know where to start. He is such a great singer / songwriter. The way he combines pop with house music is incredible. Everything he makes seems to be made of gold!”
You met each other in 2008 at the intakes of the Conservatory Music School – what musical directions were you both intending to pursue, or was dance music always the idea?
“All kinds of music. But dance music was indeed our main (mutual) goal.”
What did you recognise in each other that you realised would make a great music partnership?
“That’s a hard question, I think it was humor. As fulltime producers/DJs it’s inevitable that you will see each other really often. If you can’t laugh with the one you spend so much time with it’s gonna be really hard to succeed what you want to achieve, I can imagine…”

You draw your influences from a lot of different areas, always looking to push your boundaries. Who would you say were your early musical influences growing up?
“Ivo’s mother is from Italy, so much of the original folk / traditional Italian music.”
Can you recall the first time you played your debut single ‘Reveal’ to a dancefloor back in 2008…
“Yes, sure! It was in a small club in our hometown where Marc often played (solo). At that moment ‘Reveal’ wasn’t yet finished by the way. It was in a very early stage of the track. By playing it each week in the club we refined and tweaked ‘Reveal’ until the moment where we were happy with everything!”
What has been your summer anthem?
“Definitely ‘Devils Work’. We made an edit of this track, combining the vocals of Gotye – ‘Somebody’ that I used to know with ‘Devils Work’ and some of our own synths. We played it everywhere we went. People can still download this track for free if they like us on our Facebook fan page.”
Who brings what to the studio – who is great at what?
“We always work together as a team. It is difficult to say who is doing what. 50/50.”
You make your Ibiza debut at Es Paradis on September 9th – where have you enjoyed partying the most on the white isle in years gone by?
“We have enjoyed partying the most at Super You & Me! Laidback luke’s party! What a night!”
Who are your big Dutch fellow DJs and producers you enjoy playing with?
“Gregor Salto! Really nice guy!”
What has been the best club you have rocked in 2012?
“We met so many nice and friendly people everywhere we played. Therefore it’s really hard to choose a favourite.”
Not many people know this, but East & Young are really great at…
And finally, what is the record that changed your life?
“Kings Of Tomorrow – ‘Finally’…without a doubt…”
